The move is as follows: you lift the lid and this square edge lifts the half pipe from around the bar. This causes friction and this type of friction leads to problems. Normally, a LCD hinge is made for life. You should not have any problems. Nevertheless, the common flaw is that after a while, due to this friction the hinge doesn’t’ hold that strong. In other words it becomes “floppy”.
